Dulwich Family Photographer | Documenting the last days of family dog Archie

Family photographer Dulwich. Natural, unposed family photos. Walking the dog in Nunhead Cemetery.

When people contact me for a family photo session it’s often to celebrate a birthday, the arrival of a baby brother or sister, a pregnancy, or some other joyous family milestone that’s worth documenting. But sometimes, just every now and then, the reason for a family shoot isn’t a totally happy one.

Gillian booked a Slice Of Life family photoshoot after hearing the sad news that their family dog Archie was not well and wouldn’t be with them for much longer. They wanted to get some great family pictures with Archie while he was still around. During our consultation on the phone we agreed to take Archie out on a walk at his favourite place, Nunhead Cemetery, so there would be plenty of time to photograph the kids playing with the family dog.

On the train to London it was pouring it down and I was really hoping the rain would stop at some point. As soon as I arrived in South East London though, the clouds disappeared and the sun even came out! The children were excited to take Archie out for a walk, and even though he wasn’t as fast as he used to be, he still did really well. Nunhead Cemetery is absolutely perfect for those Sunday family walks with the dog and I was so glad we managed to dodge the rain.

Although the reason for this family shoot wasn’t such a positive one, I do hope these family pictures have captured the love the whole family has for Archie and preserve some memories for them.
