Family Photographer Burgess Hill | Camping at The Mac’s Farm

Burgess Hill Family Photographer. Girl with water gun on campsite The Mac's Farm in Ditchling. Natural, unposed family photography in Sussex.

If you live in Sussex and you’ve got kids, then you might have heard of The Mac’s Farm. It’s a lovely farm, run by a fourth generation organic egg farming family, that is located in the beautiful village of Ditchling in East Sussex. Every Summer they open up their farm for camping and throughout the year they organise all kinds of family friendly events (check out their Rum & Reggae weekend!).

We stayed with them back in July, during one of those rare hot weekends when Ivy was still at school, and we had such a great time! I love documenting these kind of family outings and always bring my camera. Those longer Summer days can create gorgeous lighting, I think any photographer adores photographing during the magical “Golden Hour” - when the sun is low in the sky, producing a natural warm soft light. Combine this with building a fire, glitter tattoos and some water gun action and you’ll end up with a lot of family photos!

We fed some chickens, ate marshmallows by the campfire, and I even managed to squeeze in a yoga class! I absolutely loved staying at The Mac’s Farm and we’ll definitely go back - especially because it’s only half an hour drive from Hove.

My Slice Of Life family photoshoots are often done at home, but if you’d prefer to get your family photos taken somewhere a bit different, and you’ve booked yourself a weekend camping with the kids, then I’d love to spend a couple of hours with you to document those camping memories for you! If you’re after those natural, unposed and fun family portraits, then the campsite could be the perfect location!
