A natural, fun and relaxed Maternity Session in Hove with Jess

Relaxed, informal maternity photography in Brighton and Hove. Maternity portrait taken at Hove beach with the famous beach huts in the background. Black and white maternity photo.

Jess contacted me when she was 35 weeks pregnant, as she decided (very last minute :-)) that she wanted her bump captured before the little one arrived.

When people think of maternity photography they often envision fully styled maternity portraits done in a studio. But your maternity photoshoot doesn’t have to be done that way.

My approach to maternity photography is to document your pregnancy exactly as it is at the time of your shoot. I want it to be a relaxed and fun experience for you so I always start off in the comfort of your own home. Often clients decide to also include an outdoor location. Jess was after some natural, candid shots so we decided to shoot both at her home near Preston Park and at Hove beach.

Jess and Danny only recently moved into their new house - and it was beautiful! Lots of lovely rooms with good natural light to choose from. Once we captured Jess’ bump at home it was time to head to the beach. Danny’s daughters, also part of the shoot, were super excited and couldn’t wait to be photographed!

I honestly think we chose the windiest day ever, but this obviously didn’t stop us. It actually made the whole shoot even more fun. We all had such a great time and I’m really pleased with how this maternity shoot turned out.
