Newborn Photography in Brighton: Real Life, Beautifully Documented

Brighton is a place that invites contrast—sea and city, old and new, vibrant and quiet. You can wander the Lanes on a Saturday, full of noise and colour, and then walk five minutes and hear nothing but gulls and wind. It’s this mix that makes Brighton such a special place to raise a family. And such a beautiful place to slow down and photograph the beginning of one.

I feel incredibly lucky to live here. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t just look beautiful—it feels alive. And working with local families in their homes, capturing those first quiet days with their newborns, never really gets old.

I offer natural, in-home newborn photography sessions for families across Brighton and Hove. There’s no studio, no props, no expectations—just your baby, your home, and all the small, unfolding moments that come with those first few weeks.

What a Newborn Session in Brighton Really Looks Like

It usually starts slow. You’ve probably had a rough night. The kettle goes on, the baby might be feeding, and we find our rhythm gently. You don’t need to dress up. You don’t need to tidy. You just need to be there—tired, present, figuring it out together.

Maybe you live in one of those tall, light-filled flats in Seven Dials, or a Victorian terrace near Preston Circus. Maybe you're in Hove near the sea, or tucked into a quiet corner of Hanover with steep steps and warm light. Wherever you are, it’s your space—and that’s where the most meaningful photographs happen.

I won’t bring a beanbag or swaddle your baby into shapes. I’ll simply watch, gently guide if needed, and photograph the real things: the way they curl into you, how your hands settle around their body, the softness in your face when you look at them.

Why I Photograph at Home (And Not in a Studio)

Home sessions are slow. They leave room for everything: for feeding breaks, for nappy changes, for the way newborns are—unpredictable, sleepy, unsettled, wonderful.

They’re also incredibly personal. The way the light falls through your window at 10am. The blanket someone knitted. The coffee cup beside the cot. These little details will change, and your baby will change even faster—but this quiet beginning will always be yours. That’s what I want to preserve.

Brighton Families, Your Everyday Is Worth Remembering

I work with families all across Brighton & Hove—Kemptown to Preston Park, Brunswick to Fiveways. Some are first-time parents, still blinking in the blur of it all. Others are growing families with toddlers charging around while the baby sleeps on someone’s chest.

What connects them isn’t a particular style or setup. It’s the feeling that these early days—messy, beautiful, fleeting—deserve to be remembered just as they are.

Thinking About Booking?

There’s no perfect time. I photograph babies from a few days old up to around six weeks, depending on how you’re feeling and the kind of images you’d like. Some families book during pregnancy. Others get in touch once the baby is here. Either works.

If you're based in Brighton or Hove and are looking for something honest, calm, and rooted in your everyday, I’d love to hear from you.
