family lifestyle photography in South West London
Relaxed outdoor sessions on the Common, in the bandstand gardens, or at your home in Clapham, Battersea, Balham, Tooting and beyond.
I photograph families as they already are - no stiff poses, no performance, just real moments in the places you love.
Most people feel a bit awkward in front of a camera. My job is to get everyone relaxed enough that they stop thinking about it - and then photograph what happens next.
meet your Clapham family photographer.
Hi, I’m Irma, an award-winning family & newborn photographer working all across London. I create natural, storytelling images that reflect who you are as a family.
Whether we're at home, wandering Clapham Common, or exploring the bandstand, my goal is to quietly capture the moments you’ll want to return to - unplanned, wholehearted, and real.
I might give you gentle directions, but I mainly follow what’s happening, blending into the day.
I've photographed families in homes all across SW4 and SW11, on Clapham Common in every season, and everywhere in between. Every family finds their own rhythm during a session - my job is just to work with it.

WHY Clapham FAMILIES CHOOSE ME
I come to you
The Common, the bandstand gardens, your home in Abbeville Village - wherever feels most natural. No studio, no travelling with the kids to an unfamiliar location.
Sessions move at your children's pace
If your toddler needs to chase pigeons for ten minutes before they'll cooperate, we chase pigeons. If your baby needs feeding halfway through, we pause. I work around your family's rhythm, not against it.
Nothing is staged (unless you'd like it to be)
I don't pose families - I watch how you already move together and photograph that. But if you want a few classic portraits where everyone's looking at the camera, we can do that too. The results look like you on a good day, which is what makes them worth keeping.
Honest images that last
Natural light, light edits, no heavy filters. In ten years these won't look dated - they'll still look like photographs of your family.
Where we shoot in Clapham
Clapham Common
Clapham Common is one of the best family photography locations in South London - large enough that it never feels crowded, varied enough that different areas give completely different backdrops. The bandstand side has formal gardens and wide paths that work well for families with young children. The wilder edges near Long Road have old trees and dappled light. I've shot on the Common in every season and it holds up year-round.
The Bandstand & Formal Gardens
The bandstand gardens are particularly good in spring and early summer when everything is in bloom. The enclosed feel and structured planting give you something more considered than open parkland, which suits some families better - especially if you're looking for images that feel calm and contained rather than wide and atmospheric.
At home in Clapham
Clapham's housing stock - the Victorian terraces, the Edwardian conversions, the period flats - tends to have exactly the right conditions for in-home photography. High ceilings, big windows, good natural light. Some of my favourite sessions have been entirely indoors in homes around Abbeville Road, Clapham Old Town, and the roads off Northcote Road.
Nearby: Battersea Park, Wandsworth Common & Tooting Bec
If Clapham Common doesn't feel right for your family, I regularly shoot in Battersea Park (particularly good for the river views and the formal gardens), Wandsworth Common (quieter, more neighbourhood feel), and Tooting Bec Common (wide open space, good for children who need to run). All are a short distance from Clapham and work just as well.
Faqs
-
Absolutely! I love including your pets and additional family members, just let me know in advance so we can plan the session accordingly.
-
Yes! Many families love starting at home for natural lifestyle shots and then heading to a favourite park, playground, or countryside location for outdoor images. This gives a great mix of candid and scenic photos.
-
I’m flexible! If the weather is truly awful on your scheduled day, we can easily reschedule to another date so you still get beautiful outdoor family photos in the best possible conditions.
-
Sessions typically run 1.5–2 hours, giving plenty of time for children to warm up, explore, and for natural, relaxed moments to unfold.
-
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident! There’s no need for coordinated outfits, the most important thing is that your family feels like themselves. Simple, natural clothing that allows you to move, play, and enjoy the session works best. Of course, if you’d like to coordinate your outfits, that’s perfectly fine too.
-
You’ll normally receive your fully edited images via a private online gallery within 2–3 weeks of your session. During busier periods, such as Christmas and summer, it may take closer to a month.
