Finsbury Park Newborn Photographer
Relaxed, baby-led newborn photography in Finsbury Park and North London
Newborn sessions in Finsbury Park take place in your home and unfold at your baby's pace. There is no fixed plan for the session and no expectation for your baby to sleep, settle, or behave in a particular way.
I photograph the quieter moments of these early weeks as they happen - feeding, being held, stretching, sleeping and the pauses in between.
In-home newborn sessions
Photographing your family at home means everything stays familiar and comfortable. Sessions usually move between whichever rooms have the best natural light, often the bedroom, nursery, or living room.
There is no need to prepare your home in a certain way. The photographs are less about perfect surroundings and more about observing this brief stage of family life as it naturally unfolds.
meet your Finsbury Park newborn photographer.
I’m Irma, a family and newborn photographer working across London and Sussex. My work focuses on natural, storytelling imagery that reflects your family as you are.
I’m drawn to the quiet, unscripted moments of early parenthood and the subtle connections that shape growing families.
My approach is simple and unobtrusive: honest, thoughtful photography that captures what’s real - because the most meaningful memories are often the ones that pass softly, almost unnoticed.
As a mum myself, I know how quickly those early newborn days pass by in a blur, which is why it feels so important to have them documented.

“We had a great newborn photoshoot with Irma. I was 9 days post partum and when the time came about a little daunted about doing the photoshoot.
However Irma was fantastic! She totally put us at ease and it was a really comfortable experience. The photos are also great, a fantastic reminder of this time!”

A natural and documentary approach
My work is authentic and observational. Rather than heavily posing or styling newborns, I document the small interactions and details that make these first days feel so distinct.
I offer gentle guidance where needed, but much of the session is spent watching and responding to what is already happening.
The result is a collection of photographs that feel calm, honest, and unmistakably like your family.

There’s no single “perfect” time to book a newborn session, it’s about what feels right for your family.
Many parents choose the first two weeks, when babies are still sleepy and curled up. This allows for soft, snuggly images full of stillness and gentle connection.
Babies around 4 to 8 weeks offer something different, but equally beautiful. They’re more alert, can hold eye contact, and may even share a tiny early smile. Moments that make newborn portraits truly special.
Whether your baby is just a few days or several weeks old, I’ll tailor the session to suit their stage and your pace. My goal is to capture your family naturally, creating timeless images you’ll treasure from these first fleeting weeks.

Working with me is relaxed and low-key, no bright lights, no awkward posing, and no pressure for your baby (or you) to "perform." I simply come to your home and quietly document your family as you are, in your own space and your own rhythm.
We take breaks when needed, whether that’s for a feed, a cuddle, or just a breather. I’m there to observe and capture the little moments as they unfold naturally.
-
Not at all. If you reach out and I have a date available in the coming days, we can schedule your newborn session without any problems.
-
Sessions usually last around 2 hours, but I take as much time as your baby needs. Time is built in for feeds, nappy changes, and short breaks, there’s no rush.
-
My main priority is that you and your baby feel comfortable and relaxed during the session, so wear whatever makes you feel at ease.
That said, I usually suggest avoiding all-black outfits or very bright reds, as they can be a little overpowering in photographs.

Absolutely. Older siblings often love to join in. I aim to capture natural interactions, curiosity, and connection between your children. Partners are welcome too, and family shots are always included. If you prefer just your newborn, that works too, the session is flexible to your family’s needs.
What to expect
Sessions are relaxed and unhurried, with plenty of time for feeding, changing, settling, or simply taking a break.
Most parents tell me they were worried beforehand about whether their baby would cooperate. In reality, there is nothing your baby needs to do. The session works around whatever the day brings.
When to book
Newborn sessions are often photographed during the first few weeks after birth, but there is no strict deadline. Every baby is different, and older newborns are equally welcome.
If your baby has already arrived, please do get in touch, as I can often accommodate last-minute enquiries.
I photograph newborn sessions throughout Finsbury Park, Crouch End, Highbury, Islington, Stoke Newington, and across North London.
