A documentary newborn photoshoot is all about capturing the early days of your little one's arrival into this world with newborn photos that are true to you and your family.
Those first months will go incredibly fast and it's amazing how quickly babies change. We soon forget all those newborn nuances (I blame sleep deprivation!) but my pictures will help you remember the early cuddles, their teeny tiny hands and feet and the many feeds, for years to come.
Like in all my family photoshoots, my newborn photography sessions have a documentary approach. I like to capture real family life so this shoot is all about the connection between you and your baby, and your story as new parents. I would love to come to your home and photograph those early moments with your new baby.

How does it work?
My newborn photo shoot is approximately 2 to 2.5 hours long and is done in the comfort of your own home to make you and your baby feel as relaxed as possible. My aim is to capture real and honest moments between you and your child. So, think feeding photos, bath time, first cuddles on the sofa - all the extraordinary "normal" baby stuff.
If you would like me to include some detailed shots of your baby’s hands and feet then I am more than happy to do so. Although all my newborn photoshoots have a documentary approach I can also add a few more traditional newborn portraits if you would like to have these - I’ll make sure these photos will be relaxed, natural and full of personality.
If you are up for it, we can also add an outdoor location to your newborn photoshoot. We can take your little one for a stroll along the seafront, to a local park or your favourite coffee shop. I will capture those honest, fun and real moments between you and your newborn baby without you even realising my camera is there!
When to book your Hove newborn photoshoot?
It's really up to you! A newborn photo session can be booked in any time from just a few weeks after you give birth to a few months after your baby is born. Do whatever feels right for you and your family.
I have recently added “fresh 48” newborn sessions to my photoshoots as well. This is basically a newborn session that is done within 48 hours after giving birth and either takes place at the hospital or at home. You can find more information about this newborn session here.
Babies younger than one month old are still very sleepy, so this age is great for those curled-up sleepy shots and photos of feeds and cuddling moments.
Babies older than a month tend to be more alert and they can already show so much personality by then! They won't be asleep all the time so there will be more "eyes open" shots and maybe even some first smiles.
