These aren’t just pictures, they’re memories you’ll return to again and again.

Newborns grow so quickly, and these first days are precious. I document the little gestures, sleepy stretches, and tender connections. Calm, honest, and timeless portraits in your home or favourite space.

What to expect

✔️ Relaxed & baby-led: gentle guidance with plenty of flexibility, following your newborn’s pace at home or outdoors if you’d like.

✔️ Natural moments: a focus on real interactions - feeding, cuddles, settling, and the quiet moments in between.

✔️ Calm-paced sessions: around 1.5–2 hours, with time for breaks, feeds, and changes.

✔️ Thoughtful mix: mostly candid, storytelling images with a few softly guided family portraits.

Why Choose a Lifestyle Newborn Session?

A newborn session isn’t about posing or perfection.

It’s about capturing the early days as they really are - the quiet moments at home, the way you hold your baby, and the small interactions that already feel like your new normal.

Photographed in your East Dulwich home (and nearby outdoor spots if you’d like), my focus is on relaxed, timeless images that feel natural and true to your family.

“We had a great newborn photoshoot with Irma. I was 9 days post partum and when the time came about a little daunted about doing the photoshoot.

However Irma was fantastic! She totally put us at ease and it was a really comfortable experience. The photos are also great, a fantastic reminder of this time!”

 Faqs

  • There’s no single “perfect” time to book a newborn session, it’s about what feels right for your family.

Many parents choose the first two weeks, when babies are still sleepy and curled up. This allows for soft, snuggly images full of stillness and gentle connection.

Babies around 4 to 8 weeks offer something different, but equally beautiful. They’re more alert, can hold eye contact, and may even share a tiny early smile. Moments that make newborn portraits truly special.

Whether your baby is just a few days or several weeks old, I’ll tailor the session to suit their stage and your pace. My goal is to capture your family naturally, creating timeless images you’ll treasure from these first fleeting weeks.

  • Working with me is relaxed and low-key, no bright lights, no awkward posing, and no pressure for your baby (or you) to "perform." I simply come to your home and quietly document your family as you are, in your own space and your own rhythm.

We take breaks when needed, whether that’s for a feed, a cuddle, or just a breather. I’m there to observe and capture the little moments as they unfold naturally.

  • Not at all. If you reach out and I have a date available in the coming days, we can schedule your newborn session without any problems.

  • Sessions usually last around 2 hours, but I take as much time as your baby needs. Time is built in for feeds, nappy changes, and short breaks, there’s no rush.

  • My main priority is that you and your baby feel comfortable and relaxed during the session, so wear whatever makes you feel at ease.

That said, I usually suggest avoiding all-black outfits or very bright reds, as they can be a little overpowering in photographs.

  • Absolutely. Older siblings often love to join in. I aim to capture natural interactions, curiosity, and connection between your children. Partners are welcome too, and family shots are always included. If you prefer just your newborn, that works too, the session is flexible to your family’s needs.

The process

Step 01: PRE-CONSULTATION

We’ll discuss your vision for your newborn photoshoot and I will tell you a bit more about how I work.

Step 02: PENCIL IN A DATE

My diary can fill up quite quickly, so together we can pencil in a date for your photo session as quickly as possible.

Step 03: the photoshoot

This is the fun part! We work at your baby’s pace, the focus is on relaxed, natural newborn portraits that reflect these first precious days.

Step 04: viewing your images

Around three weeks after your newborn session, you’ll receive a private online gallery showcasing a selection of carefully edited images.

Step 05: print orders

Once you’ve explored your gallery, you can choose from four thoughtfully curated collections to order digital images and/or printed products.
