Streatham Newborn Photographer | In-Home Sessions Across South London
Natural, in-home newborn photography in Streatham and South London
These sessions are built around one idea: I come to you. Your home, your light, your pace. No studio to travel to with a newborn in tow, no unfamiliar setting to settle into.
You stay exactly where you're most comfortable, and I quietly document what's already there - the tiny fingers, the sleepy stretches, the way you already hold each other.
These aren’t just pictures, they’re memories you’ll return to again and again.
Newborns grow so quickly, and these first days are precious. I document the little gestures, sleepy stretches, and tender connections. Calm, honest, and timeless portraits in your home or favourite space.
What a Streatham newborn session actually looks like
I'll arrive at your home and spend a few minutes getting a feel for the space and the light before I start shooting. Streatham homes - the Victorian semis, the Edwardian terraces, the converted flats - tend to have good natural light if you know where to find it, and I usually do within the first ten minutes.
Sessions run for around two hours, though I never watch the clock. Time is built in for feeds, changes, and whatever your baby needs. The photos that matter most almost never come from the moments I've planned - they come from the quiet ten minutes after a feed when everyone has relaxed and stopped thinking about the camera.
Your edited images are delivered to a private online gallery within two to three weeks. From there, you choose from four curated collections - from digitals only through to packages that include prints and wall art - so you can decide what feels right once you've actually seen the photos.
meet your Streatham newborn photographer.
I'm Irma - an award-winning newborn and family photographer working across Streatham, Tooting, Norwood, West Norwood, Balham and the wider South London area.
I've photographed families in Victorian terraces off Streatham High Road, purpose-built flats near the Common, and everything in between.
Every home has its own light and character, and I work with whatever yours gives me.
I know from my own experience as a mother that the newborn stage doesn't feel fleeting while you're in it - it feels endless and overwhelming. And then suddenly it's gone. The photographs are what's left.
All of my newborn sessions are in-home, which means I travel to you.
I cover all of Streatham (SW16) and regularly photograph families in Balham, Tooting, West Norwood, Tulse Hill, Norbury, Thornton Heath, and Brixton.
If you're not sure whether your postcode is within range, just ask-— I'm usually very flexible for South London.
Why Streatham parents choose in-home newborn photography
✔️ No studio, no packing bags: I come to you. Whether you're in a flat on Streatham High Road or a house near the Common, I work with the light and space you have. There's nothing to prepare and nowhere to be.
✔️ Sessions run at your baby's pace: There's no fixed schedule. We feed when they need feeding, pause when they need settling, and pick up again when they're ready. The best shots almost always happen in those in-between moments anyway.
✔️ Documentary style, not posed portraits: I'm not arranging your baby on a beanbag. I'm watching how you already hold them, how your toddler peers at them, how your partner looks when they think no one is watching. Those are the images you'll still have on your wall in twenty years.
✔️ You'll probably forget I'm there: I work quietly and I don't fill the room with direction. If you forget I'm there, I've done my job.

There’s no single “perfect” time to book a newborn session, it’s about what feels right for your family.
Many parents choose the first two weeks, when babies are still sleepy and curled up. This allows for soft, snuggly images full of stillness and gentle connection.
Babies around 4 to 8 weeks offer something different, but equally beautiful. They’re more alert, can hold eye contact, and may even share a tiny early smile. Moments that make newborn portraits truly special.
Whether your baby is just a few days or several weeks old, I’ll tailor the session to suit their stage and your pace. My goal is to capture your family naturally, creating timeless images you’ll treasure from these first fleeting weeks.

Working with me is relaxed and low-key, no bright lights, no awkward posing, and no pressure for your baby (or you) to "perform." I simply come to your home and quietly document your family as you are, in your own space and your own rhythm.
We take breaks when needed, whether that’s for a feed, a cuddle, or just a breather. I’m there to observe and capture the little moments as they unfold naturally.
-
Not at all. If you reach out and I have a date available in the coming days, we can schedule your newborn session without any problems.
-
Sessions usually last around 2 hours, but I take as much time as your baby needs. Time is built in for feeds, nappy changes, and short breaks, there’s no rush.
-
My main priority is that you and your baby feel comfortable and relaxed during the session, so wear whatever makes you feel at ease.
That said, I usually suggest avoiding all-black outfits or very bright reds, as they can be a little overpowering in photographs.

Absolutely. Older siblings often love to join in. I aim to capture natural interactions, curiosity, and connection between your children. Partners are welcome too, and family shots are always included. If you prefer just your newborn, that works too, the session is flexible to your family’s needs.
