Balham NEWBORN pHOTOGRAPHer
Natural baby-led newborn sessions at home
I create natural, baby-led newborn portraits that capture the beauty of your baby's first weeks at home.
Relaxed newborn sessions that are centred on genuine connection, small details and natural authentic family moments.
Serving families across Balham, Tooting, Clapham, Twickenham and South London.
In-home newborn sessions
I come to you so everything stays familiar and easy. Most sessions take place in bedrooms, living rooms, or anywhere with soft natural light.
There is no pressure to tidy the house or prepare anything specific. The focus stays on connection and the small, ordinary details that often matter most later on - hands, expressions, feeding moments, and the way your baby fits into your home.
meet your Balham newborn photographer.
Hi, I’m Irma, an award-winning newborn and family photographer.
I create natural, storytelling images that reflect who you are as a family. I work all across South London, including Balham, Clapham and Wimbledon.
As a mum myself, I know how quickly those early newborn days pass by in a blur, which is why it feels so important to have them documented.
WHY Balham FAMILIES CHOOSE ME
✔️ No Studio, No Stress. I come to you, so everyone stays relaxed and real
✔️ Baby-Led & Child-Friendly. Sessions move at your pace, with plenty of breaks and play
✔️ Natural, Artistic, Documentary Style. No stiff posing or props, just honest, beautiful storytelling
✔️ Authentic Memories. Family photographs that capture feeling, not just faces
A natural, documentary approach
My work is focused on honest storytelling rather than posing or styling.
Using natural light and a quiet, unobtrusive approach, I document your family as you are in those first weeks - gently guiding only when needed, and otherwise letting moments unfold.
The result is a set of images that feel calm, familiar, and rooted in real life.
My background is in natural, documentary-style photography. I’m interested in real life as it unfolds - not in creating perfect versions of it.
With newborn work, that means allowing space for quiet, movement, unpredictability and pause. The aim is not to direct your experience, but to reflect it back honestly.

There’s no single “perfect” time to book a newborn session, it’s about what feels right for your family.
Many parents choose the first two weeks, when babies are still sleepy and curled up. This allows for soft, snuggly images full of stillness and gentle connection.
Babies around 4 to 8 weeks offer something different, but equally beautiful. They’re more alert, can hold eye contact, and may even share a tiny early smile. Moments that make newborn portraits truly special.
Whether your baby is just a few days or several weeks old, I’ll tailor the session to suit their stage and your pace. My goal is to capture your family naturally, creating timeless images you’ll treasure from these first fleeting weeks.

Sessions take place in your home, using the available natural light and the spaces you spend time in most.
-
Not at all. If you reach out and I have a date available in the coming days, we can schedule your newborn session without any problems.
-
Sessions usually last around 2 hours, but I take as much time as your baby needs. Time is built in for feeds, nappy changes, and short breaks, there’s no rush.
-
No special preparation is required. The session is designed to work around your home and your baby's routine on the day.

Absolutely. Older siblings often love to join in. I aim to capture natural interactions, curiosity, and connection between your children. Partners are welcome too, and family shots are always included. If you prefer just your newborn, that works too, the session is flexible to your family’s needs.
“We had a great newborn photoshoot with Irma. I was 9 days post partum and when the time came about a little daunted about doing the photoshoot. However Irma was fantastic! She totally put us at ease and it was a really comfortable experience. The photos are also great, a fantastic reminder of this time!”

When to book
Newborn sessions are usually photographed within the first few weeks after birth, but there is no strict window.
Older newborns are just as welcome and the approach naturally adapts as your baby grows.
If your baby has already arrived, it’s still worth getting in touch - I often have space for last-minute bookings.
I work across South London, including Tooting, Clapham, Wandsworth, and surrounding areas.
