Brighton Wedding Photography | Documenting Jelmer & Cedric’s special day

Brighton small wedding photographer documenting gay marriage in Greenwich, London. Wedding guests throwing confetti as married couple leaves the town hall. Natural wedding photography in Brighton and Hove with a reportage approach to wedding photos.

I can’t believe it’s been nearly a year since I documented Jelmer and Cedric’s wedding! Wait, what?! Do you also photograph weddings? Well, yes and no. Big weddings not really (saying this I’m actually doing one in Hailsham, East Sussex, this year), but I love photographing the more intimate, slightly smaller (micro) weddings. Brighton Town Hall is such a lovely venue, I’ve shot a few couples getting married there with only a handful of guests, and taking the newlyweds out to the beach for their wedding photos is just the best!

Jelmer and Cedric, both fellow Dutchies in the UK, got married in London though - in Greenwich to be exact. Jelmer and I go way back to my days at Expedia, and we’ve been friends ever since. So this wedding felt extra special to me.

The couple got ready in the Pan Pacific hotel and from there made their way to Woolwich Town Hall together with the wedding guests. I loved documenting the walk through London and going on the tube as one big group all dressed up - we definitely attracted some looks! The ceremony was lovely, with some beautiful readings from the family and a short group photo session on the stairs of Woolwich Town Hall afterwards.

We then headed for a well deserved glass of fizz at The Guard House - a lovely pub and restaurant in Woolwich. From there we made our way to Greenwich Pier to catch the Woolwich ferry, so much fun!

Our last stop was The Sail Loft in Greenwich where we had some amazing food, great cocktails and we ended the night on the dance floor.

I feel incredibly honoured to have been a part of Jelmer and Cedric’s special day, to be able to capture all the memories for them, and I hope they enjoy their married life to the fullest!

If you are getting married this year (congratulations!) and you’ve decided to go for a small (micro) wedding then I’d love to take your wedding photos! Just the two of you and your witnesses going to Brighton Town Hall? Are you only inviting a handful of friends and family to your special day or are you keeping your guest list to a minimum of 30 people?

As a Brighton Documentary Photographer I also offer wedding photography for the couples who are keeping things small and are looking for a more relaxed, fun and creative documentation of their wedding day! I am based in Hove, but also cover Worthing, Lewes, Shoreham and the rest of East and West Sussex! Please contact me if you’d like me to document your small wedding!
