MATERNITY pHOTOGRAPHY

Pregnancy is a fleeting, powerful chapter, full of emotion and quiet beauty. I’m Irma, a maternity photographer based in Brighton & Hove, and I specialise in gentle, relaxed maternity sessions that feel more like spending time with a friend than standing in front of a camera.

Whether we’re by the sea, in your home, or among the rolling fields of Sussex, I’ll help you capture this special time with calm, authenticity, and ease. If you’re London-based or elsewhere, I’m happy to travel to you.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Session length: Typically 60–90 minutes.

  • Wardrobe freedom: Wear what feels comfortable and reflects your style, whether that’s a flowing maxi dress, jeans and a t-shirt, or something else entirely.

  • Process: We’ll start with a quick chat to go over dates, outfits, and the ideal location. On the day, I’ll guide you gently so you feel relaxed and natural, allowing us to capture this special chapter. The session concludes with intimate, loving portraits of your beautiful baby bump.

Celebrating the quiet strength and beauty of pregnancy.

Pregnancy is an incredible, intense experience. There’s a quiet focus, a sense of doing something amazing, but it’s not always easy, especially in those last weeks. I know firsthand that it can be exhausting, even if we imagine it as a glowing, effortless time.

My aim as a maternity photographer is to make your session calm, comfortable, and memorable, while creating portraits that celebrate you and the little life you’re carrying.

I focus on capturing the connection between you and your unborn baby, creating a relaxed, personalised session that celebrates you just as you are: natural, authentic, and completely yourself.

“Irma was a delight to work with. She responded quickly to our enquiry and scheduled a photoshoot that fit with our schedule. She put us at complete ease and captured treasured memories that we will cherish for a lifetime. Nothing was too much for her and we look forward to marking more milestones further down the line.”

 Faqs

  • The sweet spot for a maternity session is usually 30–36 weeks, your bump is visible, but you’re still comfortable moving around. But don’t worry if your timing is different!

Feeling good at 28 weeks? Just decided at 37 weeks to capture this moment? We’ll make it work.

  • Your session can take place wherever feels right: Brighton’s beach at sunrise, your living room filled with soft window light, or a quiet green corner in Sussex.

I work with the natural surroundings and light, so there’s no need for overly staged poses or forced outfits, just authentic, evocative moments.

  • All you need is a room with a large window that lets in plenty of natural light, usually the living room or main bedroom works best. Simply pull up any blinds to brighten the space, and make sure the room is comfortably warm if you’ll be showing your bump.

  • Sessions typically last about an hour, but we’ll take as much time as you need.

  • The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and like yourself. Choose clothing that shows off your bump in a way that feels natural to you.

If we’re outdoors, consider the season: light layers like a denim jacket over a wrap or maxi dress always work beautifully.

At home, simple tops or camis paired with your favourite relaxed clothes are perfect. Some mums-to-be love a special outfit, which is wonderful, but a plain, stretchy top or figure-hugging dress works just as well. You can always add a simple necklace to dress it up.

Try to avoid loud patterns or clothing with wording, as these can distract from you and your beautiful bump.

  • Absolutely! Kids are usually fascinated by pregnancy and will want to be close, hugging and kissing your beautiful bump, the home of their soon-to-arrive brother or sister.

These photos become treasures to look back on, both for your older children and for the little one growing inside your tummy.
